How to Publish Your First Book
Newsletter. 12/17/23.
It’s time to tell your story!
This week I received my monthly reminder to slow it all the way down. If you receive those monthly reminders as well, check out this article on how to prioritize your menstrual health as a working woman. But I promise I didn’t forget about you all! Lately, I’ve been thinking about how to tap into the parts of creative entrepreneurship that bring me the most joy, and those which allow me to develop skills that I had to overlook in past stages of my career. It can be somewhat tricky to navigate the fine line between commodification and practicality as it pertains to any artistic career.
Even still, a conscious fixation on the root of my storytelling guides me back to center whenever I’m overwhelmed by algorithmic pressures to perform for an unidentifiable gaze. At the end of the day, it’s all about creating pockets of community and serving that community with my love and light. As 2024 swiftly approaches, I’m doubling down on that commitment.
The question guiding it all is : “How can I provide unique value through my company, while keeping my authenticity and pleasure at the forefront?”
With that being said, I’ve been filming videos for Youtube again! My latest video answers the question I’ve received the most in the past year: “how do you publish a book?” As I embark on this journey for a second time, I’m cognizant of that which helped me take Force of Nature from an unexpected pandemic project to bookstores across US, Europe, and even Australia. I package the most pertinent advice for budding authors into the first video of a series that will explore the more obscure parts of the book publishing process (i.e. editors you need, personal branding). Writing a book changed my life, and I want you to feel empowered to tell your story in way that can transform yours as well.

new paintings in the store !
We’re all stardust. 30x40in, acrylic on canvas.
“Into the Wild” is my latest collection of paintings and illustrations. Each work in this growing collection explores themes of divine feminine power, spiritual sovereignty, and universal oneness with the world around us. These vibrant abstract paintings and illustrations are my reimagination of what it means to surrender to flow as I dance to the rhythm of expansion. Furthermore, they interrogate what it means to live freely and colorfully in our modern world.
I’m excited to finish this new collection , and I’ll be sharing more art work with you in the coming weeks. It still feels like a dream to be able to do what younger Odemi once thought was impossible. Thank you for your support, and I’m happy to have you as part of Alaere Lifestyle’s growing community.
With love and light,
Odemi
